Avoid times square at all costs. But if you must go, and you must eat, bxl cafe is not a bad spot. In fact, despite the slow service, it was kind of fun. Chris and I stopped here after a movie. Note: vegetarian options limited to appetizers, salads and a farfalle dish. But what I would recommend are the 2 lb pots of mussels. I got them marinieres, or in a white wine shallot sauce. I used to dislike mussels, but they were quite good! And it was a fun experience eating them out of a big pot. To top it off, we had lots of pommes frites with ketchup and mayonnaise (which i thought would be gross but was actually quite good) and a pretty good baked goat cheese & tomato confit appetizer. The mussels are in the 17-20 range for 2 lbs (could be split between two people with an appetizer – i couldn’t finish it). If you really like mussels and can eat a lot, on mondays and tuesdays they have all you can eat mussels plus a stella for $20ish.
