so in procrastinating and inspecting my newly “public” and “stalker-friendly” restaurant reminiscing for some form of propriety, i realized that i never posted about brunch at blaue gans. my gosh! what a delinquent i am.

i finally made it out there in december, shortly before the holidays when chich came over to the east coast for her disease-ridden trip. chich & aaron humored me with an early brunch to fit with my bookstore hours, so we didn’t end up eating off their brunch menu. but i think some items are overlapping. chich & aaron both got a sort of viennese combination meal that came with a sort of bologna-type meat, two soft-boiled eggs, kaiser rolls (who knew how good they would be when baked fresh?!), croissants and jams. and choice of caffeinated drink, i believe. (they serve weiner melange, and other drinks identical to sabarsky – same owner i think). i opted for a pain au chocolat (called something else viennese) and a sausage + pretzel. soft pretzel for breakfast! the mustard that came with the sausage/pretzel plate was delectable. not too tart, which is usually my complaint with mustard. the pain au chocolat though…oh, that was worth every crispy, butter-laced flake.

i believe that the “combo platters” (i wince calling it) were around $15. but i believe there was a slightly abbreviated version for less, which we all decided would have been sufficient. also, not at all crowded at…uh…10 am on sunday. :)
